{"id":635,"date":"2022-08-02T12:01:12","date_gmt":"2022-08-02T10:01:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ehitusinsener.ee\/?page_id=635"},"modified":"2022-10-10T07:50:22","modified_gmt":"2022-10-10T07:50:22","slug":"about-us-2","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.ehitusinsener.ee\/en\/association\/about-us-2\/","title":{"rendered":"About us"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The active members of EEL may be civil engineers, who have acquired higher education in the field and who have worked in the field for at least one year after graduation.<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Youth members of EEL are people studying civil engineering in an institute of higher education, and people who do not as yet have a year of work experience in civil engineering.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>People who have remarkable achievements in civil engineering or services to developing the activities of EEL can be awarded honorary membership of EEL.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Professional associations in the field of civil engineering or other associations who have similar objectives with EEL and whose members are individuals, may become collective members of EEL.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With becoming a member of EEL the members have undertaken to follow the Code of Behaviour and Professional Ethics of an Engineer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Most individual members of EEL are working civil engineers in the field of&nbsp;<strong>general construction&nbsp;<\/strong>and&nbsp;<strong>road construction<\/strong>. At that, the working members of EEL are active in almost all professions in the field of construction \u2013 design, design management, owner supervision, construction management, construction site management, cost estimation, training civil engineers, and research.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>More than half of the individual members work for design and construction companies. The third group by size is the construction engineers working for companies engaging in owner supervision or operating as construction client\u2019s consultants. The rest, ca 25%, work at universities or other high schools, at development companies, in the public sector or the construction material industry, at real estate companies, or at companies carrying out geotechnical and geodetic surveys.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>By age group, a third is made of over 60-year-old members \u2013 therefore, there is enough valuable professional work experience at the association. To pass on the knowledge available in EEL, we encourage young engineers to join the association.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>EEL is the member of Estonian Association of Engineers (EIL).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Since 1997 EEL has been part of the European Council of Civil Engineers (ECCE).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The honorary members of EEL are named as follows:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Urmo Kala (30.01.1939-18.05.2012)<\/li><li>Valdek Kulbach (06.04.1927-31.01.2020)<\/li><li>Toomas Aakre (22.09.1942-11.07.2015)<\/li><li>Rein Kvell<\/li><li>Tiit Masso<\/li><li>Ants Raja<\/li><li>Karl \u00d5iger<\/li><li>Valdo Jaaniso (18.06.1933-12.08.2017)<\/li><li> Vello Otsmaa<\/li><li>Heiki Meos<\/li><li>Riho Oras<\/li><li>Holger Karema<\/li><li>Toomas Laur<\/li><li>Aadu Kana<\/li><li>Kaido H\u00e4\u00e4l<\/li><li>Andres Piirsalu<\/li><li>Erki Laimets<\/li><li>Ahto Soomer<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Objective and fields of activity<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The objectives of EEL\u2019s activity are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>supporting and developing the field of civil engineering;<\/li><li>being a connecting link between professional civil engineers active in the area of construction industry;<\/li><li>connecting the members of EEL with other professional associations active in the field of construction industry;<\/li><li>representing and protecting the members\u2019 common interests;<\/li><li>participating in forming the technical, scientific, and educational policies in the field;<\/li><li>improving the professional skills of civil engineers;<\/li><li>helping to ensure and acknowledge the professional competences of the responsible specialists working in the field.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The main activities of EEL are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>developing standards of professional competence for civil engineers;<\/li><li>issuing professional certificates in civil engineering;<\/li><li>organising professional in-service training for civil engineers;<\/li><li>participating in the development of laws and regulations, norms and instructions in construction industry;<\/li><li>engaging in cooperation with professional and business organisations in the field, both in Estonia (EEEL, EPBL, EETEL) and abroad (RIL \u2013 Finnish Association of Civil Engineers; LBS \u2013 Latvian Association of Civil Engineers and LSIS \u2013 Lithuanian Association of Civil Engineers);<\/li><li>engaging in cooperation with institutions of higher education in the issues of civil engineering education;<\/li><li>membership in and cooperation with organisations with similar objectives as EEL, both in Estonia (EIL \u2013 Estonian Association of Engineers) and abroad (ECCE \u2013 European Council of Civil Engineers);<\/li><li>participating in award panels and juries (Concrete Construction of the Year, Wooden Building of the Year).<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Management of EEL<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The highest managing organ of EEL is its&nbsp;<strong>Representative Body<\/strong>, which generally meets once per year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Between those meetings the activities of EEL are managed by the&nbsp;<strong>Council<\/strong>, which meets 4\u20136 times per year. At the moment there are a total of 14 members in the Council, four of whom are the representatives of collective members. The Chairman and two Vice-Chairmen of EEL, being the members of the&nbsp;<strong>Board<\/strong>, are also members of the Council.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The members of the Council and the Chairman and the Vice-Chairman of EEL are selected by the Representative Body for two years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The daily activities of EEL are managed and the work is organised by the&nbsp;<strong>Managing Director<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The&nbsp;<strong>Audit Committee<\/strong>&nbsp;is a controlling and auditing body of EEL, which has at least three members that are selected by the Representative Body amongst the members of EEL for two years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Disputes concerning issues of professional ethics amongst the members of EEL are solved by the&nbsp;<strong>Court of Honour<\/strong>, which has five members that are selected for four years amongst the members of EEL.
